Ones Depressed
by Tyler Frost
What does one feel if they are all depressed?
Enclosed, saddened, hopeless much of the time.
Some it may be from their being oppressed.
Their sad days will go like a song of chimes.
One can feel all depressed with people such
or be by themselves so quiet and sad.
They’ll think and think until their brain hurts much
and their heart aches with pain and is not glad.
So what might become of beings depressed?
They’ll keep their thoughts inside hidden and deep
like the floor of the sea, water suppressed.
They’ll become crushed by their thoughts and will seep.
Pray much, O ones depressed that God may help
and talk with ones who are not sad for help.
Tyler, your plea is well epressed! I liked these lines especially…
They’ll keep their thoughts inside hidden and deep
like the floor of the sea, water suppressed.
Hi Tyler,
I am one of those that you write about. I have Bi-Polar disorder and suffer greatly from depression. Your line, “and their heart aches with pain and is not glad.” is so true. It is hard for people to know what it is like to be depressed if they have not experienced it for themselves. I think you have done a wonderful job of expressing the true feelings of a depressed person. Thank you. It is always good to see another that knows and can express how you are feeling. Thanks you.
This is a wonderfully expressed poem. It felt heavy with the use of “oppressed”, “suppressed”, “depressed”, etc. The beautiful thing about healing these dark deep thoughts and emotions is that writing them down and sharing them with others brings them into the light. The darkness disappears easier when you bring it to the light! Your prayer at the end is a wonderful example of what “light” to bring these feelings too. A very cathartic poem, thank you so much for sharing! What a wonderful light you are to whomever reads this! Keep shining and writing!
A touching poem. Sad, but the part about praying gives hope.
Tyler, thank you for letting me post your poem! Keep writing…
“They’ll become crushed by their thoughts ” and “thinking too much”–often depression feeds off the thoughts. I love how this ended like a prayer.
